1. Ema Datshi

Also known as the national dish of Bhutan Ema Datshi and is normally eaten with red rice. This food is made using Yak cheese, Garlic, oil, split chilies, onion, and tomatoes. Bhutanese just love chilies and cheese, that’s why almost every dish in Bhutan may turn out to be cheesy as well as spicy.

2. Shakam Paa

It is a magical Bhutanese food made using ground beef, dried chilies, and radish. The beef in this dish is a bit chewy because beef is first dried and then preserved before being used in this dish. Shakam Paa is an excellent source of protein as well as one of the staple diets of the Bhutanese people.

3. Jasha Maru

Jasha Maru is another one of the popular Bhutanese dishes. Prepared using chicken, garlic, onion, ginger, tomato, and onions, this dish is ready to tilt your taste buds. It is best-served food with red rice just like any other authentic Bhutanese delicacy.

4. Phaksha Paa

Phaksha Paa can be gravy or a soup like food. It is made using pork; Phaksha Paa includes a complex blend of spices, chilies, and some mountain vegetables.  All are cooked in oil whereas pork is first stir-fried and then added to the dish.

5. Zow Shungo

6. Shakam Datshi

It is another form of Ema Datshi which is made using dried Bhutanese beef. The cooking process for beef in case of Shakam Datshi is a little different whereas rest everything else is similar to Ema Datshi. Just like in the case of Ema Datshi, Shakam Datshi is also served with red rice.

7. Dumplings



One of the most widely eaten Asian food, Dumplings are also one of the favorite food which lures every food lovers. Different varieties of dumplings are served in Bhutan; depending on the filling the dumplings which include beef, pork, cheese, and chilies also.
